The removal of varicose veins with scleotherapya
In the Renova clinic one of the most used procedures in the removal of varicose veins is sclerosis treatment with foam.
The procedure for the removal of varicose veins minimizes or eliminates spider veins and varicose veins, and thus improves the appearance of the affected areas. The methods of removing spider veins and varicose veins include a range of techniques such as laser treatment, surgery or sclerotherapy.
The procedure to be used to remove spider veins or varicose veins depends on the type of veins you have and the seriousness of your condition.
Sclerotherapy is a nonsurgical procedure designed to reduce the appearance of spider veins and small superficial varicose veins.
Sclerotherapy can eliminate unsightly varicose veins on the legs, face or virtually anywhere on the body.
Sclerotherapy is minimally invasive procedure that only involves the use of a micro needle to inject a solution that causes the unwanted veins to fade or disappear.
Procedure: Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution directly into the veins in the area to be treated. In preparation for the treatment, the patient remains stationary while the veins treated are marked. With a micro needle, the sclerosing solution is injected into the vein, causing it to harden and fade over time. An injection can treat approximately one square inch of skin, and in one procedure numerous injections may applied, according to the size of the area being treated. Because the pain is minimal or non-existent for patients, anaesthesia is rarely needed. In general, the treatment lasts between 30 minutes and one hour. For best results, two or more sclerotherapy treatments are usually carried out.
Recovery: After the sclerotherapy treatment, compression bandages are usually applied to increase pressure and reduce inflammation of the veins. Bands can usually be removed after one or two days, although it may be necessary to use some type of support for approximately two weeks. It is normal to see bruising and swelling after the surgery. We recommend moderate exercise to increase blood flow. If sclerotherapy is performed on the leg, it is advisable to keep it high.
Results: The aim of sclerotherapy is to improve the appearance of unsightly veins. After each sclerotherapy session, the veins will become clearer. However, because some bruising usually occurs, you may not see the final results for two weeks.
Sclerotherapy does not prevent new varicose veins from forming on the surface of the skin, therefore it should not be considered as a permanent solution to treat spider veins and varicose veins.
Most of the patients are satisfied with the results and enjoy the nicer look of their skin.
